PGY-1 : Surgery (4 Weeks) The Surgery Service provides one-on-one teaching through working directly with our staff surgeons. The day begins with patient care rounds on post-operative cases in the hospital. Some days involve scrubbing in with our surgeons as First Assistant, while other days include outpatient Post-operative and Surgery Consult clinics adjacent to the hospital. Residents are expected to become proficient in sterile technique, suturing, OR protocol and competent first assisting on routine surgical cases. Residents are on call with surgeons for Trauma Alerts and ER surgical consults. |
